Since signing a Memorandum of Understanding in January 2002, the SRRCD has established offices in both La Broquerie and Vita where it has developed policy & procedures as well as a list of programs available to District residents. The SRRCD has been involved in many special projects and partnerships.

Some of the types of projects the SRRCD has been involved with include:

  • Water storage / retention projects,
  • Sealing abandoned wells,
  • Rain gardens,
  • Willow bio-engineering for erosion control,
  • Grassed waterways,
  • Tree planting,
  • Recreational site enhancements,
  • Environmental education,
  • Well water testing,
  • Water quality testing in local rivers,
  • Watershed assessment studies,
  • Watershed Management Planning.

The greatest success of the SRRCD is its’ involvement of new municipal partners, and the improvements in municipal cooperation and relations.  The SRRCD began as one RM and now involves the RMs of La Broquerie, Ste. Anne, Hanover, Stuartburn, De Salaberry, Ritchot, Tache, Reynolds, Springfield, Montcalm, Franklin, Piney, the City of Steinbach, Town of Ste. Anne, the Village of St. Pierre-Jolys and the Town of Niverville.

The SRRCD looks forward to working with its many partners, focusing its resources on worthy projects, and building exceptional lines of communication and understanding with its local watershed residents.
